John's Bio
You’ve heard his guitar long before you knew his name.
John Platania lit up Van Morrison’s Moondance, laid down the unforgettable riff in “Domino,” brought explosive live fire to It’s Too Late to Stop Now, and added soulful depth to “I’ll Be Your Lover Too”—featured in the film Proof of Life. His guitar work for Randy Newman on the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump soundtrack helped shape one of the most iconic films of its era.
But that’s just part of the story.
John’s compositions and session work continue to resonate on screens around the world—with sync placements across Netflix, The History Channel, A&E, Discovery, and more. A standout project: co-producing and composing original music with Dr. John for Nick Jr.’s Welcome to Littleburg, a series created by Whoopi Goldberg.
Whether on screen or in song, his guitar becomes a voice—emotional, human, unforgettable.
If you’re a music supervisor, you’ll find in John a sound that delivers instant atmosphere. If you’re an artist, he’s a collaborator who listens, elevates, and brings deep musical instincts to every track.
What he brings can’t be faked: tone, instinct, and soul.
